Taco Tuesday at Franklin

Envolve purchases lunch for Franklin Place residents from locally-owned Taquizas los Pistoleros

EL PASO, TX What started out as a way to help local businesses during the uncertain times of COVID-19 has blossomed into a lunch program that fosters community fellowship.

Envolve LLC, one of the country’s largest affordable multifamily property owners and managers, wanted to do something special to support its communities. The company purchased lunches for all residents of Franklin Place Townhomes on 3/1—but instead of patronizing a chain restaurant, they chose locally-owned Taquizas los Pistoleros.

“When developing the Resident Lunch Program, we wanted it to not only be an act of kindness for our residents during the pandemic, but also a way to support local restaurants that may have been suffering sales-wise,” said Jeff Ezekiel, President of Envolve Communities (the Investment Portfolio division of Envolve LLC). “We try to seize any opportunity to live out our tagline of ‘Making Communities Better Together.’

Attendees gathered in the community’s clubhouse at 3 p.m. to pick up their delicious meals as a late lunch/early dinner. The options included tacos with a variety of protein choices and all the trimmings, red or white rice (arroz blanco con rajas poblanas), beans, baked potatoes, macaroni salad, and four different types of salsas. Envolve also donated 100 fabric face masks to be distributed at the event.

“The residents were very appreciative that they didn’t have to make dinner that night!” said Melisa Morales, Community Manager. “They also said the food was delicious.” Virginia R., a resident of Franklin Place, said, “Thank you so much! My daughter, grandbaby, and I will enjoy all the food.” Another resident, Alicia G., had just picked up her children from school when they came by to make their selections. Alicia was thrilled to have dinner taken care of so they could go straight home to eat and do homework.

“We loved being able to tell residents that ‘dinner is on us!’” said Johanna DeLaPena, Senior Community Manager. “It was an enjoyable day for all.”
