Bringing Philly to Florida

Envolve purchases lunch for Lakewood Terrace residents from locally-owned Philly Steak & Wings

LAKELAND, FL Individuals and local businesses alike have suffered greatly due to the effects of COVID-19, and the owners of Lakewood Terrace Apartments decided to do what they could to help.

Envolve LLC, one of the country’s largest affordable multifamily property owners and managers, wanted to support its communities during these uncertain times. The company decided to purchase lunches for all residents of Lakewood Terrace on 6/24—but instead of patronizing a chain restaurant, they chose locally-owned Philly Steak & Wings.

“Local restaurants took a significant financial hit during the height of the pandemic, so we take care to only purchase from small or family-owned businesses for our Resident Lunch Program,” said Andrea Jordan, SVP, Human Resources for Envolve Communities. “We love being able to give back to our local economy while simultaneously treating our valued residents to lunch. It’s a win-win!”

Residents gathered in the Lakewood Terrace community room to enjoy their lunches. Entrée choices for adults included chicken wings (10 pc. lemon pepper, garlic parmesan, honey hot, honey BBQ, or mild flavored), hamburger/cheeseburger, or a shrimp seafood boil (with seasoned & sauced shrimp, corn, and potatoes). Kids were able to choose from chicken nuggets, chicken strips, or corn nuggets. All meals came with a side of fries and a drink, and Envolve also donated 136 fabric face masks to be distributed at the event.

“We enjoyed the food, and the residents that attended were all very thankful,” said Angelica Hodo, Community Manager of Lakewood Terrace. “It was such a nice summer day!”

Elaine Carrero, Regional Manager for Envolve Communities, said the event had a little something for everyone.

“Philly Steak & Wings has so many delicious options, so we received lots of great feedback on the choice of restaurant,” said Elaine. “A fun time was had by all, and now that COVID restrictions are relaxing a bit, we’re excited that many of our residents can attend in-person events like this again.”
